Brazil eVisa, made clear.

Who can apply, what to prepare, how long review may take and where to submit—without the paperwork fog.

The Brazil eVisa is a fully online Visitor Visa for eligible passport holders from the United States, Canada and Australia traveling for tourism or qualifying short-term business activity.

Independent Service Disclaimer: We are a private travel information and application-assistance service, not the Government of Brazil. You may apply directly at the official government-authorized eVisa portal. Any assistance fee is separate from the US$80.90 government fee.

Who is eligible?

The current electronic application is available exclusively to citizens holding valid ordinary passports from:

  • the United States;
  • Canada; or
  • Australia.

Brazil reinstated the visitor visa requirement for these nationalities on April 10, 2025. Travelers holding another passport should check Brazil’s official visa table or the appropriate Brazilian consular post; they may be visa-exempt or may need a consular visa instead.

Brazilian citizens cannot receive a Brazilian eVisa. Brazilian dual nationals should travel with appropriate Brazilian travel documents.

Documents to prepare

Requirements can vary by applicant and trip. The published consular guidance currently includes:

  • a signed passport valid for the entire trip, with two free visa pages;
  • a completed online visa application;
  • a recent 2 × 2 inch passport-style photograph on a white background;
  • payment of the official US$80.90 fee;
  • confirmation of flight reservation showing entry to and exit from Brazil; and
  • a recent bank statement showing the last 30 days of transactions and sufficient travel funds.

Business visitors may need a company letter describing the qualifying activity. Consular authorities can request additional information or evidence.

Applications for children

Every child who requires a visa needs an individual application. Depending on the family situation, additional documents can include a birth certificate, copies of parents’ passports and notarized parental authorization.

How the online process works

  1. Apply online. Enter the applicant’s details and upload the required documents. Use the passport that will be presented for travel.
  2. Pay the fee. The current official eVisa fee is US$80.90. A private assistance fee, if selected, should be shown separately.
  3. Respond to any request. Check the application status and email carefully in case corrections or further documents are requested.
  4. Download and print. If approved, save the emailed PDF and print it for airline boarding and arrival in Brazil.

Processing time and when to apply

Consular posts may take up to 10 business days to process an application after it has been completed, checked for accuracy and submitted to the relevant post. That period does not include the time needed to correct an incomplete file.

The official portal recommends applying about two months before planned travel. It also advises against buying tickets or making non-refundable arrangements before the visa is issued.

Validity, entries and length of stay

The eVisa permits multiple entries. U.S. visas may be valid for up to 10 years, while Canadian and Australian visas may be valid for up to 5 years, subject to the visa and passport’s actual expiry date.

Visa validity and permitted stay are different: a multi-year visa can support several trips, but the permitted stay is generally limited to 90 days per year. Travelers who need more time should contact Brazil’s Federal Police before the authorized stay expires to ask whether an extension is available.

Traveling with an approved eVisa

  • Check that every name and passport detail is correct.
  • Travel with the same passport used in the application.
  • Print the approved eVisa PDF; the portal recommends carrying two copies.
  • Keep the PDF and approval email saved on your phone as backups.
  • Keep your accommodation and onward-travel information accessible.
